Zipaquirá
This city about 50km north of Bogotá is well-known for its immense rock salt mines at about 2650m altitude! Those mines were essential to the Muisca indians. Those mines host the Catedral de Sal (Salt Cathedral), entirely carved in the salt mountain.

As can be seen on this shot, the entrance was reiforced with timber, but after a while the salt is omnipresent and almost entirely hides the wooden supporting structure. 0564. 2003-07-23 23.05.06 Zipaquirá - Salt Cathedral.
